The Acorn Music 500 was a sound and music synthesiser peripheral for the BBC Micro.


Characteristics

  • Seven position stereo output
  • Up to sixteen notes played at once
  • Thirteen programmable preset waveforms
  • Thirteen programmable envelopes
  • Special effects, including ring modulation, frequency modulation
  • Pitch variation
  • Individual volume control over each instrument

A five-pin DIN socket on the rear connected the Music 500 to an amplifier


The device was programmed using a dedicated music language called AMPLE, which could be loaded into the BBC Micro.
