Hello there, I contributed the first versions of this page and would like to apologise for the inaccuracies I had left in the article.  The statements about the disc format and formatter code, other than those added since March, were true of EDOS and I added them at a time when I had disassembled EDOS and never run DDOS, and assumed the two were essentially the same.  I'm currently commenting [http://regregex.bbcmicro.net/ddos.asm.txt DDOS 3.x6] and will add my findings here in due course.  After that I will comment 3.x5 where it differs from the later version.

My apologies

Hello there, I contributed the first versions of this page and would like to apologise for the inaccuracies I had left in the article. The statements about the disc format and formatter code, other than those added since March, were true of EDOS and I added them at a time when I had disassembled EDOS and never run DDOS, and assumed the two were essentially the same. I'm currently commenting DDOS 3.x6 and will add my findings here in due course. After that I will comment 3.x5 where it differs from the later version.

Some of the text added recently seems to fight a battle with what would appear to be persistent and widespread misconceptions. I assure readers that they are nothing of the sort.

As my practical understanding of DDOS develops I'll return and correct any of my remaining errors. In the meantime, to minimise the reader's distraction I would like to suggest to editors to change or replace inaccurate statements as they please without dwelling too much on the previous contents of the article.
